Day 19: Choose to be Purposeful

To be purposeful is to live with intention. Knowing how you want to portray yourself with how you act or what you say is at the center of being purposeful. Choosing to live this way will be a change for many of us as there are things we didn’t think of as hurtful or that contributed to a racially inequitable culture. Realizing that what you say and what you do has consequences are the first steps toward choosing to be purposeful.

Reflection

Many people associate racism with overtly bad acts, but that is not always the case. People can inadvertently say and do things that may be considered racist by the offended person. If someone were to call you out for saying or doing something they considered racist, how should you react? What should you not do?
