About Us

The PTYOK (Peters Township Year of Kindness) committee members are volunteers who are also active members of the Peters Township Character Counts Committee. Our goal is to promote and spread kindness in our community. We hope to build upon the solid foundation of the Character Counts group that already exists in our community. Our aim is to increase township spirit, community involvement, and the quality of interactions of our residents through service. Each of us believes in the pillars of Character Counts which are: respect, responsibility, caring, honesty, and kindness. We recognize that the Peters Township community can only grow stronger when we work together and embrace these tenants. This initiative, Peters Township Year of Kindness 2020 (PTYOK) campaign, was developed to meet these goals and further the mission of spreading kindness.

Our Mission

Our mission is to promote kindness in the following six segments of our Peters Township community: Kindness to first responders; Kindness to seniors: Kindness to newcomers; Kindness to each other; Kindness to those in need; and, Kindness to active military service members and veterans. We choose to adopt Rachel’s Challenge and continue the chain reaction of outward kindness in our own community through service and good deeds. We will enthusiastically support individuals, families, businesses, or groups who want to join us in this mission. PTYOK will strengthen the relationships between residents within our community through service and kindness.

About PTYOK

This PTYOK campaign is designed to foster service and kindness activities that align with Rachel’s Challenge and the pillars of Character Counts. Each month, the PTYOK website and calendar will highlight service opportunities for community participation. Residents are encouraged to sign up for service activities and respond to the needs of our community. Each participant must adhere to the requirements of the organizers, including choosing activities appropriate to physical abilities and age. Participants must conduct themselves appropriately and supervise any minors who accompany them. The PTYOK website and calendar are interactive; information about activities, projects, and needs are compiled for community members to access and utilize. Attached is the link for the website.
